Privacy Policy — Foresome

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from Google.
Profile information. Information you choose to add to your golfer profile — such as your skill level, handicap, preferred play style, availability, home region, a short bio, and an optional profile photo.
Content you create. Posted tee times, match, join, and friend requests, in-app messages you send to other users, ratings or reviews you leave after a round, and rounds you choose to log (course, date, scores, and computed statistics such as your handicap). Logged rounds and statistics are visible only to you and users you have accepted as friends.
Location information. The city or zip code you type into a search, and — only if you tap “Use my location” and grant your browser or device permission — your device’s precise location. We use your precise location once, to run that search and show you the closest courses; we do not store it with your account or track your location in the background. You can decline or revoke the permission at any time in your browser or device settings and search by city or zip instead.
Search activity. Tee-time searches you run (location and date), which we may cache briefly to speed up repeat searches.
Technical and usage data. Information collected automatically when you use the Service, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and basic interaction logs used for security, rate limiting, and debugging.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, operate, and maintain the Service and your account;
Match you with compatible golf partners and display your profile to other users you may want to play with;
Aggregate and display live tee times and route you to the booking platform where a tee time can be reserved;
Find golf courses near a location you search for — including your device’s location when you choose to share it — and show distances to them;
Enable messaging, match requests, posted tee times, and post-round ratings between users;
Protect the Service against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access (including rate limiting and security monitoring);
Respond to your support requests and communicate with you.

3. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:

With other users. Your name, profile details, photo, posted tee times, and ratings are visible to other Foresome users as part of the partner-finder features. Messages you send are shared with the recipient. Do not include information in your profile or messages that you do not want other users to see.
With service providers. We use third parties to run the Service, including Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database and file storage), and Google (optional sign-in). To turn a location into map coordinates (and back into a nearby city name), we send the searched location — including your device coordinates when you share them — to the free geocoding services OpenStreetMap Nominatim and Zippopotam; no account information is sent with those requests. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.
For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Foresome.
In a business transfer. If Foresome is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Third-party tee-time platforms

Foresome displays tee-time information sourced from third-party platforms including GolfNow, Chronogolf, ForeUp, Club Prophet, and others, and links you to those platforms to complete a booking. When you follow a link and book a tee time, you do so on the third party's website under their terms and privacy policy. We do not control and are not responsible for the data practices of those platforms.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to operate the Service — for example, to keep you signed in and to maintain your session. We do not use these for third-party advertising.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes. Some content (such as messages already delivered to another user) may persist in the other user's view.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can edit most of your information directly in your profile, and you can permanently delete your account and its data at any time at the account deletion page. 8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including password hashing, encrypted connections, access controls, and rate limiting. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's privacy

The Service is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us at lukelee1188@gmail.com and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
